THE FINALS is a free-to-play first-person shooter for Windows that throws players into frenetic, team-based competitions set in highly interactive, destructible arenas. Developed by Embark Studios, the game distinguishes itself with dynamic environments, tactical teamwork, and an ever-evolving set of maps and weapons.

Core Gameplay and Mechanics

Every match in THE FINALS centers around squads of three battling for cash in fast-paced tournaments reminiscent of a game show. Winning is not just about accurate shooting. Teams must coordinate to complete objectives, sabotage opponents, and leverage the map’s destructibility to their advantage.

A standout feature is the game's physics-driven destruction. Instead of simply trading gunfire, players can topple buildings, blow out floors, or trigger environmental hazards to outmaneuver rivals. Strategic players find creative ways to seize the upper hand, such as collapsing a tower to disrupt enemy defenses or blocking an escape route with debris.

Gameplay is separated into classes: Light, Medium, and Heavy. Each comes with unique movement speeds, gear choices, and health pools. Interactive Arenas and Map Variety

THE FINALS features multiple, ever-changing arenas, including skyscraper spires, neon-drenched urban blocks, and now, with Season 3, the Kyoto 1568 map. Inspired by historical Japan, Kyoto 1568 provides a landscape of interconnected buildings, gardens, cherry blossoms, underground tunnels, and mountainous terrain. Each environment actively shapes the tactics and strategies squads must use.

Players can interact with and mold the map in real time, allowing for evolving gameplay within each round. Fires, explosives, and gadgets can alter the physical landscape, creating fresh obstacles or new routes on the fly.

Season 3 New Content

The introduction of Season 3 on June 13 expands THE FINALS with new content that deepens customization and variety. The Kyoto 1568 map introduces visually stunning, historically-inspired architecture, ideal for new combat tactics. New weapons and gadgets, such as recurve bows, katanas, spears, and innovative tech like the winch claw, give each class fresh gear to experiment with. The return of Terminal Attack mode and the World Tour event series also bring fresh competitive challenges and rewards.

The ranked leaderboard and regular tournaments keep the competitive scene active, while new events and the World Tour incentivize players to continually improve and climb the ranks.
